The "Opine" via ferrata is perfect for those who love mountain hedonism and are not focused solely on technical challenges. It offers a beautiful landscape and feels more like hiking than a technically oriented via ferrata. You gradually gain height, and towards the end, there is only one "more serious" vertical section. For history enthusiasts, there are Austro-Hungarian fortifications near the exit of the via ferrata.
Who is it for: Physically and mentally fit adults
How to get there: Take the regional road from Mostar to Trebinje and turn left towards the settlement of Opine (there are signs for the via ferrata). Follow the main road until the asphalt ends, and park on the widened part of the road. From the parking lot, follow the gravel road to the beginning of the Opine canyon, where there are markings leading to the via ferrata.
Approach: 15 minutes
Length of the via ferrata: 2000m
Elevation difference: 300m
Technical difficulty: A/B
Average crossing time: 60 minuta
The return route is along an old Austro-Hungarian path.
! The parking area is not marked, there are no signboards at the entrance with information about the via ferrata, and the return path is not marked.
