The Trebević (Bijele Stijene) via ferrata is interesting because of its proximity to Sarajevo, and during the summer months, climbers can enjoy the shade of dense forests and a beautiful view of the city and surrounding mountains. The via ferrata starts on the north side of the rock, which is often moist due to rainfall and lingering snow in spring. It has several interesting and challenging sections that require maximum concentration and physical readiness. At a few points, the via ferrata intersects with the old Josif Fleger via ferrata, which takes an easier route, and they meet at the top, where this via ferrata continues over a suspension bridge to the next peak of the rock and ends there.
Who is it for: Physically and mentally fit adults with solid technical/climbing knowledge.
How to get there: From the center of Sarajevo, go via Vraca to Trebević and reach the Pino Nature Hotel. Turn right
onto the gravel road that leads to the Trebević Stari Grad mountain lodge. Park at the lodge and take the marked
hiking trail to reach the base of the rock.
