The "Armin Gazić" via ferrata is short and interesting, without demanding or overhanging details, offering a beautiful view of the surroundings during both ascent and descent.
Who is it for: Physically and mentally fit adults with solid technical/climbing knowledge
How to get there: Drive to Mostar towards the Fortica excursion site and continue to the village of Gnojnice. At the junction
in the village, park your car in the clearing and follow the gravel road towards the peak of Brasina. Follow the marked
hiking trail that intersects the road's switchbacks, shortening the walking time. After arriving at a large plateau with
shepherd structures, the hiking trail turns left over meadows, while the gravel road continues right through the
switchbacks towards the peak of Brasina. Follow the hiking trail with marked signposts to the Brasina mountain lodge,
where the trail for the via ferrata turns left onto the gravel road leading towards Rujište and Mount Prenj. After about 1
hour of hiking from the mountain lodge, the trail turns right into the forest and leads to the amphitheatre below the
northern side of Velež. The trail through the forest is not well-marked, so be cautious while navigating. Upon arriving at
the amphitheatre, the trail to the entrance of the via ferrata leads to the left and uphill, all the way to the base of the rock.
There is a clearly visible information board on the rock at the entrance to the via ferrata.
Approach: 3 hours, 30 minutes
Length of the via ferrata: 350m
Elevation difference: 180m
Technical difficulty: B/C
Average crossing time: 60min
The descent from the via ferrata is straightforward. Follow the marked hiking trail leading to the Brasina mountain lodge
and further to the village of Gnojnice. In case of poor visibility, stick to the gravel road that leads from the peak of Brasina to
the village of Gnojnice.
Pay attention to the friability of the rock and be mindful of climbers below you.
